What we do?

We facilitate collaborations between leaders in institutions in efforts to stimulate translations of research findings to innovations, new strategies and evidence for sustainable asset-based policy options for the contribution of Agriculture, Commerce, Energy, Health, Infrastructure and Security Sectors to Economic Development in Nigeria.

The IFA-LoT is designed to proactively engage young and leading minds; promote access and foster discussions on leading edge knowledge on agriculture, arts, commerce, education, health, infrastructure, philosophy, sciences and technologies that can uplift our society. It is a proactive centre that will be sharing new knowledge, facilitating journal clubs, provoking debates and dialogue and addressing issues on innovations without waiting for the communities to seek answers.

Risk Communication and Community Engagement

The COVD-19 pandemic with cases reported in all the states and the FCT and the consequences of the Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions (NPI) has stretched Nigeria’s weak health systems with significant potential to hamper response to the outbreak and continued rendering of basic health services. Although the introduction of the COVID-19 vaccines has raised hopes of combating the pandemic, emergence and importation of new virulent variants coupled with disparity in states capacities to respond can still benefit from targeted evidence-based policy options. Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) strategies generated by the Health and Development Knowledge Platform provide information for involving individuals and the communities in the efforts to enhance positive outcomes and impacts of national policies in protecting the nation.

The value of the content and focus of the Health and Development Knowledge Platform is predicated on the contributions from national and international partners with deep interest on promoting effective utilization of data for evidence-based asset-driven policy options.
The leaders on the Health and Development Knowledge Platform are members of specialized networks, institutions, organizations and private sector companies actively engaged in data collection, analysis, generation of policy briefs and development of competencies for public health leadership.
The groups include the African research Implementation Sciences (ARISE), the Africa-Canada Artificial Intelligence and Data Innovation Consortium (ACAIDIC), The Special Thematic Working Group on Maternal, Neonatal, Children and Women Health (STWG-MNCWH); African Leishmaniases Consortium (ALC)
