Call for Applications: Fellowship Awards For Master’s Degree (2026/2027 Academic Session)

The University of Ibadan Research Foundation (UI-Research Foundation) invites applications from outstanding candidates for the Master’s Degree Fellowship Awards on the UI-Research Foundation Scholars Programme to support full-time Master’s training at the University of Ibadan.

Background and Rationale

Adolescents and youths continue to face significant health and developmental challenges, particularly in low- and middle-income countries despite global improvements in maternal and child health outcomes. In addition, Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) remain a major public health burden affecting vulnerable populations and limiting socioeconomic development. Strengthening research capacity among future research leaders is critical to generating locally relevant evidence valuable for developing innovative solutions, strategies and policy options to meet these challenges. The fellowship awards at the UI-Research Foundation aim to support young scholars through structured training, mentorship, and participation on multidisciplinary research initiatives.

Programme Overview

The fellowship supports academic training, research capacity development, and participation in field projects, specialized workshops, and digital learning activities through the Learning Management System at the UI-Research Foundation.

Number of Awards

Two (2) Master’s Degree Fellowship Awards will be made in 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Be a Nigerian citizen
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree (minimum Second Class Upper Division)
• Demonstrate strong research interest
• Preference will be given to candidates with admission to the University of Ibadan
